Artist statement

There is a moment in time when all possibilities exist. This is the moment before action. The moment before a decision is made. This moment between thoughts, emotions, and movements is filled with possibility.

Through blended subtle and strong colors of oil paint on canvas and oil pastel on paper,  my work captures the moment between moments in liminal time, the in-between state of being. The experience of creating the artwork in and of itself, is one of moment to moment possibilities revealed within the painting process.

Sometimes the expression is of love, harmony, and peacefulness and other times it is of conflict, strife, and anger. Whether they are about peace or strife, these representations of transitional time provide an opportunity for reflection, inviting the viewer to the in-between, the space between thoughts, a place of contemplation.
